The One Lakh Rupee Motorcycle

Bullet 500 Machismo src=There are mixed reactions when news reports came in of a motorcycle, albeit a 500cc priced at Rs.1,08,000. That is the new Bullet from Royal Enfield, and it will be powered by the new lean burn (LB) engine that was earlier being exclusively used only for their export model.

Even the not-so-rich can afford 4 wheels in the form of the entry models like Maruti 800 and a little above that – Hyundai Santro, Tata Indica and MUL’s own Alto. Soon GM’s Chevvy Spark will join the crowd. Seemingly one cannot complain of lack of choice in price, shape, and fittings.

BMW 5 Series Sedan

BMW 5 seriesIf you were impressed by the BMW 3 Series, the 5 series will stun you. At first glance you may not notice the difference. However look more closely and you will discover the longer bonnet that hides a powerful 6-cylinder engine. This is no tame horse –the manufacturer’s and indeed international norms classify this as a sedan, its external size and interior space will rank it as a big luxury car in India. Then what would you call the 7 series? That is indeed a million dollar question! Continue reading ‘BMW 5 Series Sedan’

BMW 3 Series

BMW 3 seriesFor the rest of the world it is a small car, but here in India the BMW 3 Series – the 320i, 325i and 320d -is considered a medium to large sized luxury car. With a price tag of Rs.26 lakhs and above there is no argument about the luxury tag. As of April 2007 the three models sold in India come with the following specifications: Continue reading ‘BMW 3 Series’
